Lately I’ve been thinking about what things would define a home to me. Buying a house is one thing, but what does it need to make it an awesome home for me?
a) The kitchen. This has to be awesome. Loooooots of cupboard & bench space, nice appliances and a sexy glass splashback
b) Bookshelf. Preferable a whole wall type thing (maybe with one of those cool ladders, and possibly a secret doorway). This will be categorised, and alphabetised.
c) Home studio. Some sort of music room that actually fits all our musical instruments in, in a useable fashion.
I think this is pretty much it for me.

A few weeks ago I mentioned (can’t remember who to), that I wanted to make a CD of music that I liked, and anyone who wanted a copy could have it. I wasn’t going to tailor it to what they liked, it was going to be what I liked. Well, I’ve finally got off my butt and thought about it.
It’s a long process, but I’ve selected 1 song already
Hopefully I can get the rest sorted out in the next week!

People who change lanes without indicating bug me. I guess it’s not surprising that it’s the people speeding and changing lanes randomly that never bother to indicate either, but still. I think it’s one of the worst laws on the road to break. I guess they don’t understand that indicating means it gives everyone else on the road an indication that they are about to move elsewhere, so therefore prevents other people from crashing into them.
I love digging out an album after a year or so and rediscovering why I used to listen to it all the time. I re-downloaded Angels & Airwaves and we listened to it yesterday. I’m glad I remembered I liked it. It’s funny when you look at something, or hear something, or think about something and it makes you want to do lots of different things. Of course I don’t have time to do these things in the next few years, but I like being inspired.
Sometimes just looking at an image makes me think about all sorts of things I want to do.

Deluxe!

I like All Time Low’s cover of Umbrella, and Say Anything’s cover of I Got Your Money.

I’ve been meaning to post about this for a while. Standardisation. It’s a word. I like it. Do you like it? I think takeaway and cafe stores need to adopt the definition.
What am I babbling about? Drink cups.
It all starts at Boost juice. They have drinks in two sizes. Small & large you might think? How about medium and original. Medium & original? This drives me crazy. They have two sizes. Why isn’t it something that represents size? Original is not a size. Boost juice hasn’t been around since the 18th century to have an original.
2 cups? small, large
3 cups? small, medium, large
4 cups? small, medium, large, stupid (come on, how many sizes do you want).
It’s just not that hard.
In other news, our house is now a home:

In further news, in this day and age we strive to write software that takes into consideration a singular value. if the amount is 1 minute, it would say 1 minute, not 1 minutes. Transperth says no (they’ve printed “mins” on the sign):

I’m slowly getting addicted to this show… what’s more manly than lying rugged up on a couch, box of tissues and seasone 1 of Gilmore Girls?
GRANDMA: I am so glad to see you, I didn’t hear the doorbell.
LORELAI: We didn’t ring the doorbell.
GRANDMA: You let yourselves in?
LORELAI: It’s ok mom, look, not a rapist among us.
RORY: Hi Grandma.
GRANDMA: You usually knock.
LORELAI: Not since you gave us a key.
GRANDMA: That is for emergencies.
LORELAI: Well mom, I’m starving to death. Is that enough of an emergency for you?

Saturday was my sister’s wedding. It was awesome fun. I remember singing a lot (thanks singstar), dancing a lot, and possibly drinking. The night went by pretty fast, but it was memorable, and everything ran smoothly!

Sunday was the V festival. Kirstie was sick, so I gave Jacob the other ticket knowing that he had wanted to go. We hooked up around 4pm and cruised inside. Saw the Jesus & Mary Chain (a bit slow and monotonous), Modest Mouse (awesome), Queens of the Stone Age (seemed good but I’m not really into them), Duran Duran (didn’t know what to expect but they rocked/popped pretty hard for old geezers and said “fuck” a lot) and the Smashing Pumpkins (awesome).
They had two stages side by side, so you didn’t have to wait in between sets which is good. All in all we got about 6 hours of non stop music for $130. It started about 1pm I think, so could have had more, but I didn’t want an all day affair. Since I only went to see the Pumpkins, I was happy!

After browsing some of Mark’s cooking books on Sunday, I remembered that the previous night I had been thinking about buying some Indian cookware. Using the only resource available to mankind, Google, I struggled to locate any shops in Perth. Even eBay wasn’t being super helpful.
Thanks to Kirstie for spotting an Indian supermarket (Maharaja Stores) on High Rd in Willetton. Open from 9am to 7pm 7 days a week!
Not only does it have spices galore, I managed to pick up a Tawa which I really wanted for making various Indian breads.
Also I’ve got my AV receiver back and working, so now I have nice sound for the PS3, music and dvd’s instead of through the television.
Sweet.
